Last week’s reading and listening

May 3, 2007

Ooh - found a better way to do “Today’s Listening” than ganking images off AMG, which was taking me so long I stopped posting them. Amazon makes it much easier, plus you get more info and can order them immediately if you want and then I get 3 cents and everyone is happy!

This week I have to listen to:
Time Lines and Point of Departure BECAUSE :(

Recent reading:
Kyle Gann and Kyle Gann
Nick Currie The Energy of Awkwardness blog post, as usual putting (un?)common experience to better words. I’ve (obviously) also been more interested in the art scene than the music scene here lately. If we’re generalizing broadly. Though as someone who went to Cornish, you’d think that would have been hard-wired a decade ago.
Tom Friedman in last week’s New York Times
But I almost completely ignored this week’s Sunday Times because I am tearing through this book:
The Time Traveler’s Wife, and I adore it:
I can’t recommend it enough. I love it. Full review when I finish.

And actually, I take it back — that was a ginormous pain in the rear to construct. It started off easily enough, but didn’t give me the links I wanted and second choice was a pain. Back to the drawing board.
