So of course…

How could I not recommend the fabulous books Kyle and Alex spoke about while they were here?

And of course I have to sneak Bill’s in, too, especially since he talks about the Cathedral Band in Virtual Music.

A bit surreal

Well, that was the first time I’ve watched the Colbert Report and thought, “Hey, I was in the same room with that dude 48 hours ago!”. Nice one, Mr. Ross.

Oh also - Alex Ross mentioned on his blog today that he’d be appearing on the Colbert Report this evening. Cool!

New music, good and bad, at Icebreaker fest

Saturday concert at On The Boards

January 24, 2008

(re: Saturday 1/26/08)
For those of you in Seattle who are interested in learning a little more about the group I traveled to Australia with this summer, we are performing on Saturday night at On the Boards.

As a part of this weekend’s ambitious Icebreaker IV: The American Future festival, the adventurous local ensemble Seattle Chamber Players have invited my group The Cathedral Band to collaborate with them on a ½ hour piece. This is not quite on the scale of our huge multimedia community undertaking in Brisbane, but should be a very pleasant evening of music.

Festival Schedule:

(lectures, a film, and another cool concert)

http://www.seattlechamberplayers.org/1_26_08.html
(lectures and workshops during the day, then our concert on the OTB mainstage, part of an evening of really cool premiers all commissioned by the local chamber group.)

(Morton Feldman marathon and panel at SAM)

How to participate in our concert:

simply call a local phone number in your area; leave us a personalized sound, song, word or phrase; and DJ Tamara or William Duckworth will mix your sound into the performance. You will even be able to hear it in a live webcast. Local phone numbers are available worldwide–from NY to Seattle, and Brisbane to Perth, plus London, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, and Rio. This website will give you all the info you will need, both to participate and to hear the webcast: http://echolog.net/\?q=node/2

you should check it out!

Cheers!
